Customer
Satisfaction Management System |
|
|
 |
 |
|
Developed
by our Outcomes Research Committee, a standardized model customer
satisfaction instrument (inclusive of both client satisfaction and
referral source satisfaction components) and users' guides, including
directions and recommendations for use of end data in an organization's
CQI program. The Customer Satisfaction Management System also
includes
staff and interdepartmental surveys.
MHCA's
National Data Center provides analysis of information collected by the
instruments and provides to users an opportunity for this program to
positively position provider organizations in a highly competitive and
accountable healthcare environment. Licensing for use of the client and
referral source instruments is required; however, MHCA members do not
pay the licensing fee.

Affiliations, Mergers & Acquisitions Manual:
Guidelines for Pursuing
Corporate Integration for
Behavioral Health Services Providers |
|
|
 |
 |
|
|
In
1995, MHCA created a guidebook to assist members in their efforts
to acquire, be acquired, merge or affiliate with other providers.
The "Affiliations, Mergers and Acquisitions Manual" was
well received and soon co-published with the National Council. By
2004, another nine years of practice had resulted in some
successful mergers and an assortment of affiliations and outright
acquisitions among MHCA's membership. There was sufficient
activity to warrant a second publishing of the manual with a
"lessons learned" component taken from actual experiences. All
members then and since have received a copy of the 2nd Edition.
Copies of the "Mergers Manual" (subtitled "Guidelines for
Pursuing Corporate Integration for Behavioral Services Providers")
are available for purchase by nonmembers: $200 including postage. |

Afia
Vendor Selection Tool |
|
|
 |
 |
|
In August 2010,
MHCA's Board of Directors adopted an agreement with Afia, Inc. to
assist MHCA members in selecting electronic health records (EHR) and
other IT systems using the Afia Vendor Selection Tool. For a
discounted fee of $500 (Afia's regular price is between $1,200 -
$1,400), MHCA members can purchase a license to use this web-based
tool that will lead them through seven distinct stages to properly
select new technology solutions.
These seven (7) stages are:

Implementation and Adoption |
The Afia model of IT
system selection was
created to help organizational leaders understand and communicate
the important connection between business requirements and the
technical functions of health information technology systems. When
taken into account while looking for a new IT system, the Afia model
will greatly improve an organization’s successful selection and
adoption of new technology solutions.
The tool can also be
used later to provide ongoing evaluation and comparison between
vendors.

Peer group members serve as consultants to each other, visiting
one another’s organizations and bringing valuable, highly
trusted “extra eyes and ears” to the assessment process as well
as to creating and managing change. Recommendations have proven
not only useful but essential to improving general oversight and
enhancing specific programs.
The Peer Collaboration model has
been used for nearly a decade by at least a dozen MHCA leaders.
Your MHCA Board of Directors has approved the concept as an
official MHCA membership benefit and funded the cost of an
initial mentoring consultation with a representative of Peer
Partners, LLC to help new groups form partnerships and provide
consultation through the first site visit. While the Peer
Collaboration model has been tried and proven as an effective
methodology for peer groups, the exact form and function of new
groups will be determined by the group members.
