Committees
& Forums
Much
of MHCA's work is carried out through its committees and forums.
Members find that participating in these groups affords them opportunities for learning and networking as they
contribute personally to the continued growth and development of MHCA. Standing
Committees oversee the central and ongoing business of the
organization; Forums examine topics of
critical and timely concern and are open to participation by all
members; Task Forces carry out specific
projects identified and supported by the membership at large but are
usually limited to an appointed core of members.

From
MHCA's inception, members have recognized that the ever-changing health
environment makes it crucial for them to focus on "what’s ahead
for behavioral health service providers." This Forum makes every
effort to prepare MHCA members for the future. Operating as a
"think tank", it focuses on identifying and anticipating
issues and opportunities for tomorrow's community behavioral health center.

Information
& Technology Committee members perform the valuable function of analyzing and
recommending information systems for use by member centers. Another of
its responsibilities is to ensure effective communication; in this
effort, the committee has championed MHCA's Internet presence through
development of the Association's website. The committee meets as a
Forum and encourages wide participation.

Participants explore
issues, goals and strategies to enhance the corporate identity and
maximize the development capabilities of MHCA members. The solid
reputation of our members serves as an excellent basis for MHCA's
corporate brand. MHCA seeks to expand our shared recognition in order to
further members' reach within and beyond their communities.

related to behavioral healthcare and to communicate these to
the MHCA membership. MHCA members are encouraged to share
their experiences with the larger membership.

Members provide important guidance on outcome measures and trends
pertaining to behavioral health research as well as quality improvement
initiatives. MHCA members are encouraged to submit
information to the committee's Accreditation
Surveyor Report Card (an accreditation review data bank, which is
available for members prior to their own site visits). In the report
card, you will find contact information on JCAHO
surveyors and CARF
surveyors. The committee provides oversight for MHCA's
benchmarking tools that measure a complete array of excellence
indicators including clinical access, staffing patters, financial and
performance standards.
A nationally used Customer Satisfaction Management System was
developed by the group and is marketed by MHCA to members and others in the
behavioral healthcare industry. An MHCA National Data Center performs
analysis and provides reports on the customer satisfaction instruments.
